If you're looking to buy or lease a new BMW in the greater Charlotte area, or already own one, you probably use your smartphone via BMW ConnectedDrive Apps. Here at Hendrick BMW, we understand that drivers who have purchased the new iPhone 5 might be a bit concerned they will no longer be able to use ConnectedDrive, but we're here to tell you there is a solution.

If you aren't familiar with the latest iPhone 5 launch, let us fill you in. Basically, Apple has changed from a standard 30-pin connector that is offered onboard BMW infotainment systems, and is now using a new "Lightning" connector. As you might guess, this change means that the new connector would no longer fit in the port to use ConnectedDrive apps, giving you the latest social media updates, music, and more. However, as we said, there is hope for new iPhone 5 users.

With the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter, the iPhone 5 becomes fully functional with BMW apps, including graphics display while using the iPod function, and for Pandora, Facebook, and Twitter.

Next, BMW will have to figure out a way to get a new snap-in adapter on board for the new iPhone 5, but we're guessing they are already hard at work on it. On top of that, it also sounds like BMW is working on a new Android application that should be coming out next summer, and we will be sure to keep you updated on its progress here on the Hendrick BMW blog.
