Independence Construction Update

 

E. Independence Boulevard Construction Update:

As many of our valued Charlotte customers know, E. Independence Boulevard is undergoing much-needed upgrades to better handle its ever-increasing traffic load. The next phase of construction includes closing the Idlewild Road intersection at E. Independence Boulevard, an 18-month project starting Sept. 18.
For those trying to access the many Hendrick Automotive Group dealerships located along the E. Independence Boulevard corridor, this may represent a change in normal driving patterns. While an inconvenience, there are additional entry points readily available.
As always, the most efficient access is east on E. Independence Blvd. from Charlotte Uptown or west on E. Independence Blvd. off I-485. However, if your travels to E. Independence Blvd. regularly include the Idlewild Road/E. Independence Blvd. intersection, we wanted to provide a few options?

To best access Hendrick BMW (6950 E. Independence Blvd), we suggest?

• South Charlotte: Those taking Sardis and Rama Roads heading north will want to turn left at the Monroe Road intersection; head west for half a mile before turning right onto Sharon Amity Road. Take Sharon Amity Road a quarter mile before turning right onto E. Independence Blvd. You will head east on E. Independence Blvd. for approximately 2.5 miles until locating the dealerships on your right.

From I-485 & Idlewild Road:

• Those taking Idlewild Road from I-485 will want to make a left onto East W.T. Harris Blvd, driving a half mile until encountering the E. Independence Blvd. intersection and stoplight. You will be able to enter the dealerships by crossing E. Independence Blvd.

North Charlotte:

• Those driving from North Charlotte via E. W.T. Harris Blvd and Sharon Amity Road will continue to utilize many of those traditional routes. From Sharon Amity Rd, turn left at the E. Independence Blvd. intersection and stoplight. You will head east on E. Independence Blvd. for approximately 2.5 miles until locating the dealerships on your right. Drivers can also remain on E. W.T. Harris Blvd. until encountering the E. Independence Blvd. intersection and stoplight. You will be able to enter dealerships by crossing E. Independence Blvd.
