Here at Hendrick BMW in Charlotte, NC, we are incredibly excited about the dedication to the environment that our manufacturer has been displaying in recent years with their commitments to hybrid and all-electric city car models like the i3 Concept. However, it's not just the models themselves that will be helping out the planet with low emissions, the production facilities BMW is building these days are incredibly efficient and environmentally-friendly as well.
The auto maker's new plant, which was constructed in Leipzig, Germany specifically to produce the i3 electric city car, will be powered in part by wind turbines, signigicantly reducing the plants' carbon foot print. The new plant also created around 800 jobs in the local area.
The i3 will be the world's premium all-electric vehicle that was purposely designed for the urban dweller who is also environmentally conscious. Very high levels of fuel consumption reduction and emissions in urban areas were a focus in design, and BMW has worked to achieve these goals by selecting the most sustainable materials for production. The body structure of the i3 consists of extremely lightweight and durable carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
While this car is not out in the wild yet, there are plenty of exciting and incredibly efficient new 2013-2014 BMW new model lineup members available and ready to be driven off of our conveniently located Charlotte, NC BMW dealership.
