Oftentimes in the automotive industry, competing
brands remain just that; competitors. But sometimes, growth requires a partner,
and BMW recently signed a deal with a popular Japanese automaker to work on
expanding efficiency in its lineup of new
BMW models. The goal will be vehicles that are impressive and fun
to drive, but efficient at the same time, for all of you drivers out there in the
Charlotte, NC area.
The deal itself has four main facets, the first of which is the development of a fuel cell system, along with codes and standards for hydrogen infrastructure to encourage more viability of the fuel-cell platform.
The two will also work on joint development of a new sports car to attract speed demons like all of you out there in the Concord, NC Rock Hill and Matthews areas.
New, lightweight BMW parts are on the way too, as the two will look to create new, aerodynamic materials to benefit the aforementioned sports car along with many other models, like the 320 Sedan.
And finally, a new lithium-ion battery is on the docket, as the efforts continue to find the most efficient way of powering hybrid vehicles that uses less energy-density than the current lithium-ions options.
It's a great time to be a BMW owner, and a great time to be a prospective owner as well. If you'ld like to learn more, come see us at 69950 E Independence Blvd Charlotte, NC 28227.
