If you've been car-watching around the greater Charlotte area you might have seen a new BMW model in a stunning white paintjob catch your eye. While we've had luxury cars with white color schemes here at Hendrick BMW for a long time, for this particular shade we have Apple to thank, and we'll tell you why.
With the rise of Apple products from laptops to iPhones and iPads, we've seen an increase in popularity in models like the BMW 328i with white or silver paintjobs, much like Apple products. Why? BMW officials believe that many now associate the lighter colors as a modern image of status and class, not to mention it makes the luxury cars look good too.
It's a big change from five to ten years ago, as many would never consider white color options, especially with hues of black and red available. That even applied to non-automotive purchases like floor tiles or refrigerators. Now, as Sandy McGill, Chief Designer for BMW DesignWorks stated, "Apple made white valuable."1
There's also numbers to back up this claim. While we here at Hendrick BMW have noticed the uptick in white or silver model demand, industry professionals say that 80-percent of the current auto market is made up of white or silver vehicles.
Like all trends though, they can change rather quickly, but McGill and company are prepared. They anticipate some new shades will emerge as popular choices, like blue, orange, and even brown.
Of course, no matter what your color preference might be, you can stop in to our showroom, located at 6950 E Independence Blvd Charlotte, NC 28227 and check out our entire selection of new and pre-owned BMW models. We're always happy to answer any of your questions and find the right colored model that interests you.
