In Europe, new BMW models are not only enjoyed by those seeking a thrilling luxury driving experience, but they are also put to good use protecting citizens as many police forces on the continent use them as official cruisers. There is one particular BMW police vehicle that's particularly powerful, and it's housed in the automaker's homeland of Germany.

If you head to Munich, Germany you'll find a specialized BMW M5 decked out in law enforcement decals. While it's not put in use by the Munich Police and is just a concept, it's still a vehicle worth talking about. It's equipped with many of the same features other BMW police vehicles have, including an iDrive-controlled warning lights system, LED identification lights, a blacked-out grille, and the distinct sirens, of course. The BMW M5 police vehicle is also fitted in the tradition "Polizei" livery style too.

For those in the greater Charlotte area who aren't aware of the BMW M5 and its prowess in terms of power, let us here at Hendrick BMW give you some details. With a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that can churn out 560 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, the BMW M5 has a top speed of 200 miles per hour and can perform the zero-to-60 sprint in 4.4 seconds. So, if some Bavarian malcontent is thinking of a getaway on the Autobahn, he or she would think twice if the BMW M5 was in pursuit.

Perhaps the BMW M5 police vehicle will make its way from concept to a fleet vehicle helping out law enforcement around the globe. We'll certainly see more of these vehicles at the General Police Equipment Exhibition and Conference in Leipzig, and at Hendrick BMW, we're hoping to see plenty of new innovations and technologies that could be applied to vehicle available in our showroom down the line.
